Tell us about yourself?
I have worked with Smart Home/IoT for more than 20 years in large corporate organisations and small startups and scaleups. I find it fascinating that it remains unleashed in terms of mass market.
There’s no clear leadership, the technology is fragmented, and 4 out of 5 people are still not adopting technology and digital solutions in most countries.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
We wanted to make Smart Home simpler and more accessible for everyone, acknowledging that it should be as easy to get started as fitting a lightbulb, and that most people do not engage with technology and buy gadgets – however, they do want peace of mind, safety and convenience ‘as-a-Service’.
Consequently, we developed our award-winning and now patented Anyware Smart Adaptor™, which is an all-in-one Smart Room solution for the lamp with built-in sensors, WiFi and Bluetooth.
It comes with a comprehensive catalogue of ‘Smarter Living’ services in the app to ensure a healthy indoor climate, prevent burglary, remotely monitoring the holiday home, etc.
What is your magic sauce?
Anyware provides a unique and personalized user experience ‘as-a-Service’ through an end-to-end solution (from award-winning and patented IoT devices over mobile apps to AI platform).
The secret sauce is the integral Product/Business Model/Go-To-Market design for value chain partners, which allow them to offer to their customers a personalized user experience based on value-added services around their core offering.
This allows Anyware to gain access to and cater for the early MAJORITY customer segment rather than the technology enthusiast market already served by tech retailers.
Anyware’s solution has a huge potential in helping mass market homeowners and tenants lead smarter lifestyles, while at the same time providing a unique engagement tool for stakeholders such as insurers, energy companies and property developers/managers.
Where do you see your company going in 5 years time?
Anyware is now leveraging the technology platform and expanding into Digital Eldercare with a non-stigmatizing, non-wearable, non-medical plug-and-play Care Monitoring solution for the informal next-of-kin caregiver to the many elderly living alone (1 in every 3).
We are investing in and continuously developing advanced technology, and have just started a new EU-project with participants in 5 different countries. The project is led by Anyware, and will change the way we introduce technology to elderly and provide eldercare in the future.
Anyware will continue to serve a maturing IoT/Smart Home market, but sees a game-changing business opportunity in the digital disruption of eldercare, which our existing technology platform makes us the right company to capture and demonstrate for others to follow.
What has been your biggest setback so far?
The biggest setback so far has been the cancellation of practically all ongoing and upcoming projects from B2B(2C) clients when COVID-19 hit in 2020. It has had a long tail into 2021, and has forced us to shift focus onto B2C channels, although it is not our strategic focus.
We are now emerging from this with a number of new growth boosting initiatives, including new products and the expansion into Digital Eldercare.
What is the next big challenge for your business?
The next big challenge for Anyware is to expand into Digital Eldercare and democratize care monitoring for informal next-of-kin caregivers to elderly living alone. We have a unique and strong point of departure with our current achievements and technology platform, but we are well aware that we are entering a new industry vertical as a disruptive newcomer and have a lot to learn.
