TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?
I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 20 years. Together with my brother, CTO at Showell, we founded a web development agency back in 2000. We served hundreds of customers by building web sites for them. Bit by bit we got into larger customers, and finally had tens of publicly listed companies as our customers. In 2011 I went to a customer meeting and the customer had a problem. The client asked how could they get sales and marketing collateral into the hands of their salespeople. After that meeting, it was like a lamp was lid or a lightning had struck me, because I realized that we could combine our expertise in building content management systems with a sales presentation app. Term sales enablement didn’t even exist back then. All the major players were actually founded around the same time. So I guess the time was simply right for a better solution to deliver, present and share digital materials. Our tool was first a combination of a content management and iPad app, but has since evolved into comprehensive sales enablement platform that works on all devices.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME A YEAR OR TWO, WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOURSELF?
Listen your heart. Don’t try to grow at all costs, but seek for sustainability in growth. When you work in a fast growing SaaS startup ecosystem, everything around you is telling you to grow and grow fast. Invest in things that help you to grow so that your product, people and clients grow with you. Don’t look sustainability simply by looking at your financial data. It is a much larger concept and something that will help you to go over hard times. We’ve all seen how much unpredictability there is in the world today.

WHAT IS YOUR MAGIC SAUCE?
Our magic sauce is a combination of following ingredients:
1) Simplicity: people value simplicity over heavy enterprise features. We give them a simple, but powerful enough tool.
2) Flexible and affordable enough pricing: our target are mid-market enteprises who already have wide variety of different tools in place so another tool has to fit into their existing sales/marketing tech stack and budget.
3) Freemium: we believe that giving our future customers a chance to use Showell for free and get to know the tool themselves without having to go through a heavy sales journey just to see the product is a must in today’s world.

WHAT IS THE PLAN FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE?
We want to grow globally, but grow sustainably. This means that everything is aligned well with the growth: our people, our product, but most importantly our customers. Of course we have certain financial goals, but for me most important thing is that I enjoy what I do and that I see others thrive and learn new things. I also wish that we make enough money and profit that will give us more & better opportunities to leave even bigger positive footprint. By that I mean is we want to make this world a better place for everyone to live. The most sustainable sales enablement leader in its class.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU’VE FACED SO FAR?
There have been multiple challenges over the last years. Covid’19 for sure, then economical issues. Finding the right talent. Scaling sales so that we don’t ruin our profitability at the same time. All this has made me think that is it worth trying to force yourself to the hyper growth. Would a fast growth be enough. Something that you can enjoy?
